1984 the Honda Motorcycle
Company, aware of the
competitors in the touring
market moving in on their
territory, introduced the
GL1200, Hondas first fully
dressed cruiser re-designed in
all areas but still looked like
its predecessor the GL1100.
Major improvements on the GL
1200 took place, the new frame
allowed the engine to be moved
forward giving more leg room to
the driver. The engine capacity
was raised to 1182cc, the
luggage compartment held a total
of 380lbs and the top of the
range model the Aspencade was
fitted with computerised fuelled
injection. Fully fuelled the GL
1200 weight in at 790lbs.
