Since the introduction of the
1000cc Goldwing customers
feedback showed that an
improvement in comfort and
additional luggage space was the
main requirement so in 1980 the
GL 1100 was introduced. The
model was the first to be
produced at the new
manufacturing plant in Ohio USA.
The GL 1100 retained many of the
features of the original model,
the flat four water cooled
engine shaft driven to the rear
wheel, but the engine capacity
was increased to 1085cc. Colour
choices for this model was Candy
Burgundy and Black Solid. 1982
Honda produced the GL 1100
Interstate fully kitted out with
fixed panniers, top box, full
fairing, stereo and LCD
instruments. With the touring
extras the Interstate weight 105
lbs more than the standard model
at 750 lbs. Colours were two
tone Metallic Brown or two tone
Metallic Silver.
